Fitbit is now #3 most popular device

The past couple of weeks have seen a boom in the number of Fitbit users signing up with Earndit.  In fact, today Fitbit surpassed Garmin as the #3 most popular tracking method (behind Nike+ and Foursquare).  Let’s keep it going!

Many people have been asking about the timing of when we award points for Fitbit.  Because the Fitbit monitor collects data all day long, we have to wait until the following morning to award points for the day’s activities.  This differs from the other tracking methods whose activities have specific start and end times which allow us to give credit for them shortly after they’re completed.

An important thing for Fitbit users to keep in mind is that if they’ve already received points for an activity with Nike+, Garmin or Everytrail on a given day, they won’t receive points for Fitbit activities monitored that day when we try to import them the following morning.  This is currently the only way for us to ensure people aren’t “double dipping” by running with both a Nike+ and their Fitbit, for example.  We know this isn’t an ideal solution but it’s the best we can do at the moment.  We’ll be working to improve how these conflicts are handled.

In conclusion, we give a warm welcome to all you Fitbit users out there and congratulate you for surpassing Garmin as the third most popular device on Earndit!

I've used the Fitbit for the past 9 months and can't say enough amazing things about this product.  For the convenience, small size, website, community/customer service, ease of use, and data it provides, it simply rocks!    I highly recommend the Fitbit to anyone wanting to stay healthy and happy.  It's the best $100 bucks I've spent in a long time.  Really!

Looking forward to earning some rewards for my hard work too… thanks for putting together a cool site.  I can't wait to see what I win.    :)

I want to second Watergirlmv's comments!  I've had my fitbit for just over a year and when I use their website and track my activities and eating habits, I see the difference immediately.  Thanks for offering yet another incentive to keep me on the path to health and fitness!  :)

I'm not knocking FitBit, but why is it you allow non-GPS data like FitBit, but my hard earned miles on the treadmill using my Garmin and FootPod aren't allowed?  There's more data coming aout of GarminConnect in that scenario then there is fitbit!

LOVE MY FITBIT!!! Only problem I have is that I wish that I had purchased it much sooner:) Great to find something else to motivate me.

    Thank you.

I manually enter activities into Runkeeper which it doesn't natively track, like a rowing machine or a treadmill, because of that points don't show up on Earndit, I'm cool with that.

But it seems that since those entries are showing up there, the Fitbit data is showing “Duplicate Activity” for the entire day.  So there are 0 points.  Is that by design?

EarnedIt User, Do you have a Fitbit? Because my steps and activities ARE absolutely hard earned, why would you think they are not? Interesting post! lol
