Earndit Privacy Controls

privacy

As an Earndit member, there’s not much information about you that gets displayed to others on Earndit, not even your followers. However, we are sensitive to the fact that some people are very private and don’t want to expose any info about themselves or their levels of physical activity. We’re happy to announce the launch of some privacy controls on Earndit.

You can now control two different aspects of Earndit from your Settings page:

  1. Control who follows you. People who follow you are able to see the trophies you earn, the rewards you earn and the challenges you enter. This is actually good for the community because your accomplishments serve as motivation to those who follow you.
  2. Control who can view your profile. Please keep in mind that if you join a challenge, your progress in the challenge will be visible to others even if you set privacy controls. That’s the only way to maintain a good user experience in challenges.

Filtering Your Rewards on Earndit

Now that the number of rewards available on Earndit has grown to close to 40 (wow!!), we figured it’d be good to give you a way to easily filter the types of rewards you’d like to see on the page.

When perusing rewards on the “Redeem” page, you can use the filter tool in the top-right of the page (see the red box in the screenshot above this post). This will allow you to filter the rewards by categories such as food, clothing and lifestyle. You can also sort them in order of popularity, or how recently they’ve been added to Earndit, or in order of points needed. Finally, you can check the box to only show rewards that you have enough points for.

This should make finding and redeeming rewards more convenient for you. Please feel free to let us know what you think.

Challenge Winners

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the first official public challenge on Earndit. We designed them to be fun and social, and that seems to be the experience most of you had. Success! It’d make us extra proud if you now went and created your own challenges to compete against your friends or co-workers.

The rules in this challenge were simple:  whoever earned the most points over a 7-day period would win a $50 Tango Card and anyone who earned at least 200 points would be entered into a drawing to win one of four $25 Tango Cards. For those who aren’t familiar with Tango Card, it’s the most flexible gift card on the market. You can exchange it for gift cards from top-name retailers like Amazon, Starbucks, Gap, Nike, Zappos, SpaFinder and others; or you can donate the card to charity; or you can exchange it for cash.

The overall winner of the challenge was Aaron Schneider with 1,302 points. Sonia sure gave him some competition though! Aaron will receive the $50 Tango Card. Of the 244 participants, 79 of you hit the 200-point threshold. Very impressive. The four winners of a $25 Tango Card are:

  • Deborah Cannon
  • Sherwin Callos
  • Joe Rofino
  • Christine Loth Stanford

Congratulations to all of you! There is one other point we’d like to address. We had strong reasons to believe that two people were guilty of cheating and so we disqualified them from the challenge. You can rest assured that the integrity of these challenges is a top priority for us and we’ll do everything we can to keep them fun and fair. Thank you to all of you who had fun with the challenge and got involved in the chatter.

The best way you can show us your love is to go create challenges of your own. Invite your friends, family and co-workers to join them. It makes exercise all the more enjoyable!

Dashboard Enhancements

We just released a couple enhancements  to the dashboard that we thought you might like to know about.

Previously the leaderboard on the dashboard showed this months leaders across all users, but now it shows “Your Crew” which is comprised of people  you are following.  Don’t fear, the Earndit wide leaderboard is still available by clicking the “All of Earndit” link right above the leaderboard, or by going to the Rankings tab.

In addition we made it easier to find friends to add them to your crew by putting a people search box right below the leaderboard.

Enjoy!
